LOAN WATCH: According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea defender Davide Zappacosta is on his way to AS Roma on loan after the two clubs agreed terms over the move.
Zappacosta was signed under the stewardship of Antonio Conte to provide competition for Victor Moses at right-wing-back. Despite producing several encouraging performances during his time as a Chelsea player, he never managed to force his way into the side.
With Reece James returning from his loan at Wigan Athletic, it became clear that Zappacosta had no place in Frank Lampard’s squad for this season. An exit appeared likely before the closing of the European transfer window, and it has now reportedly been agreed.

Zappacosta came to Chelsea to elevate his career, having previously been contesting the middle of the Serie A table with Torino. He has done so successfully, even when not starting, having won the FA Cup and Europa League since signing.
We thank him for his service and wish him all the best at Roma.
