Chelsea have drawn Ukrainian side Dynamo Kiev in the Europa League round of 16, having breezed past Malmo on Thursday night.

Following weeks of underwhelming performances and poor results in the Premier League, Maurizio Sarri finds himself in a situation where his most realistic avenue into the Champions League may well be through winning the Europa League.

Manchester United proved that it was possible under one of Sarri’s predecessors, Jose Mourinho, and but for a major turnaround in our league form, the Italian will be forced to be triumphant in Europe or face the possibility of losing his job.

Thankfully for Sarri, he’s been handed what ought to be a straightforward passage into the last 8, with Dynamo Kiev, who defeated Olympiacos in the last round, being set up for a two-legged battle with the best team in London.

Although nothing can be taken for granted on this stage, you have to feel as though we have a considerable edge in terms of quality, one that should carry us through. The first-leg will take place at the Bridge on March 7th.
