Ashley Young confirmed as Man United’s captain
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed that Ashley Young will be the Man United club captain this season.
The United captaincy had been up for grabs following Antonio Valencia’s exit at the end of last season.
Some of the names proposed to wear the armband have included David De Gea, Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba.
Yet, on Saturday, OGS revealed that Young will hold the honour this season:
David (De Gea’s) obviously in contention, (but) Ash, when he’s on the pitch, will carry the armband. When Ash starts, he’ll be carrying the armband.
Is Ashley Young a starter at Man United this season?
While Young is able to play in a variety of positions, including both full-back slots, many may argue that Young will not get into the Man United first team this season.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka is seemingly certain to start at right-back following his 50 million pound move from Crystal Palace.
On the other flank, Luke Shaw appears to be the first-choice left-back.
Further forward, Young’s hopes of playing on the wing for United have been curbed by the arrival of winger Daniel James from Swansea.
New Harry Maguire fans’ song
Manchester United and Leicester City fans are waiting for the transfer to be ratified.
With the transfer window set to close on Thursday, Harry Maguire is poised to become the world’s most expensive defender when he leaves the Foxes to join the Red Devils.
On Saturday, a group of Man United fans revealed their new song for Maguire. The lyrics to the chant are as follows:
Harry Maguire, Harry Maguire, he f***ed off Leicester for Manchester, his head’s f***ing massive!
