Marco Silva gives injury update on Andre Gomes before Manchester City

When will Gomes be back?

Everton boss Marco Silva has given an injury update on midfielder Andre Gomes ahead of their clash with Manchester City this weekend.

The Portuguese central midfielder was brilliant for Everton last season on loan, and eventually signed permanently over the summer.

Though, it’s not been an ideal start to the season for him or the Toffees.

Gomes has only featured in 315 minutes of football so far this campaign due to a couple of injuries.

Everton have also struggled without their midfield man, losing their last two Premier League games against Bournemouth and Sheffield United.

Now, Marco Silva has confirmed Gomes won’t be back for the clash with Manchester City but has given an insight on when fans can expect him back.

Back for Burnley or West Ham

Speaking ahead of the late Saturday clash with City, Silva revealed Gomes isn’t even back in training yet.

Though, he could feature against Burnley next weekend and if not, against West Ham after the international break.

“Andre is still not working full with his teammates, let’s hope in the next few days we have some more news about him,” Silva confirmed, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.

“It is possible because you have an international break after next weekend. Like I said before he is doing some first steps now to integrate with the full session with the team.

“He hasn’t done it yet but possible beginning of the next week he will start and let’s see after how he will react. If not for the next match for sure after the break he will be ready.”
