Bayern Munich’s Serge Gnabry
Serge Gnabry was back in England on Tuesday night in the Champions League.
Gnabry now plays as a winger in a 4-3-3 formation at Bayern Munich.
Against Liverpool at Anfield, Gnabry worked his socks off in a more defensive role as the Germans limited Liverpool’s attacking opportunities.
Before joining the Bavarians, Gnabry made his name with Arsenal.
He was on the books with the Gunners from 2012 until 2016. However he was barely used in the first team during this time.
Arsenal also loaned the 23-year-old to West Brom, where he looked a shadow of the player he is today.
Gnabry trolls Liverpool with a classic Arsenal reference
On Wednesday afternoon, Gnabry has posted his post-game social media update following the Champions League clash.
Gnabry has put a smile on the faces of Arsenal fans with the following tweet:
Intense first game at Anfield. It’s all up for grabs at home now.
— Serge Gnabry (@SergeGnabry) February 20, 2019
‘Up for grabs’ references Arsenal’s famous win at Anfield back in 1989.
Back then, Michael Thomas scored with the virtual last kick of the league season to seal Arsenal’s 2-0 win at Liverpool and the title.
Happy Birthday Michael Thomas 🎂
His most dramatic goal came at Anfield against Liverpool to win Arsenal the title in 1989 in the closing moments of the game. A great finish under huge pressure 👏👏pic.twitter.com/S0k6BruQLs
